Good Gracious, It's Greece! #3 - The Food

Image
The best thing about Greece was the food. Good God, those Greeks can cook good food. *just incase the first sentence wasn't clear enough*. Ehm. So. Greece. Food. Greeeeeeeat. I learned to love lamb there, had plenty of fresh seafood, tried octopus (the big giant one), learned the difference of squid and cuttle fish hahaha, and of course had moussaka, gyros, baklava and other traditional Greek dishes. Oh and every meal we had came with a basket of warm bread. The bread was ALWAYS served warm. So great. Unfortunately, since I have delayed writing about this due to school deadlines, I can't recall most of the dishes' names.  -_____- So sorry, my bad. I remember that they always use plenty of herbs, red peppers, oh and their eggplant dishes are just exquisite! Anyway. Most of the food names I've forgotten, so please forgive the inaccuracy guys... (clockwise) Greek Salad, spaghetti, stuffed squid, some other pasta dish *sorry guys*, pork/lamb chop  (clockwise...

Good Gracious, It's Greece! - #2 The People

When I was in Greece, I can't stop thinking that Greek people are gorgeous. Both man and woman. Probably it's the jawline, the nose, their eyes. Gorgeousness! I remember every time we're wondering around Athens and Santorini I would spot at least one gorgeous man or woman. Really the land of gods, if gods are super pretty beautiful people. I didn't take much photo of them, because doh I'm not a creep. However, in our second last day in Greece I did manage to make Albert took a photo of a cute guy in a restaurant. Or did I take the picture using Albert's camera? Can't remember. :p The Greeks in Santorini are particularly friendly. Probably because the island is a major tourist spot, thus the friendliness attitude. The couple who run the hostel we stayed in was very very friendly. The wife is a hugger and her husband is also very nice. In general, most people we met in Santorini were very pleasant and kind. They are one of the reasons our holiday was so gr...

I AM BACK

I've submitted most the assignments yesterday, there's still one left but that's almost done. Or at least I think so... Anyway, be prepared for more posts about Greece, Manchester's Indo Cultural Night, 14,400 words, and Mid Spring Manchester. :) See you around.

A Quick One

The reason I have neglected this blog for the past few weeks is: 1. Academic assignments. This term has a crazy workload. Despite the journals that I read during vacation in Greece, I've still got tons to do. So when I have time and *inspiration* to write, I better use it to write those essays and reports. 2. Indonesian Cultural Night. The Indonesian Student Society in Greater Manchester is holding a fair tomorrow, in which I act as the project leader. Oh but let me stop a moment here and say that everybody in the committee have worked so hard and I'm very proud to be a part of this event. It's gonna be awesome. In summary. Super swamped. Better utilize my writing juices for assignments. Yeah pretty much like that. I'll see you in three weeks. Cheers.

Good Gracious, It's Greece! - #1 The Landmarks

A bunch of us, Indo gals and dudes, went to seek some real sun a week ago. By real sun, I mean the one that actually gives you warmth at your back. The one here in Manchester is fake, which only shows for decoration purpose. T____T So we went and I love every bit of it!! I love it so much I'll break it down into three posts: The Landmark, The People, and the best part: The Food. I am blessed to have the opportunity to visit these new places, deeply grateful for it. I'd like to share it here, hopefully you'd enjoy :) Parthenon in The Acropolis of Greece View of Athens from The Acropolis Oia, Santorini The most romantic place. Praying for a return visit someday. Amin . White basic and blue ornaments, typical Santorini color design. We ran around in Oia to find the perfect spot to take sunset pictures and found a quiet one. We were the only ones there, watching the sun set. Magnificently serene. Sunset in Oia, Santorini Playing fashion show at the small dock. If any of y...

The Spirit of Things

I went to Albert & Bintang's church today, Audacious Church. The sermon was excellent. It is something that I've heard a couple of times, but so often forget. The reason we obey is not in hope to get into heaven. Heaven is already given to us, by Jesus' sacrifice. And that is why we obey. We obey because we love Him, not because we HAVE to obey. We obey because we want to please him. Not so we can earn freedom. Freedom is already given to us. He is a BIG God. He doesn't need a huge checklist of what we do and what we do not do. He sees our heart. The priest this morning gave one example that I thought so hilarious yet so true. He and his friends were fasting. And some of his friends were arguing over whether they can drink tea during fasting. And he reaction was, "Who cares? Don't get so caught up in details, in breaking down things. It's the spirit of things that is important." This brings me to my previous post. For some reason, I felt guilty and...
